A lovely couple from New York were looking to relocate to London – as central as possible, on an unfurnished basis, and with a limited budget. The twist? They were bringing a large dog and a house cat.
Now, anyone in property will tell you: mention a dog bigger than a dachshund or a cockapoo, and most agents or landlords shut it down straight away.
But here’s where strategy (and a bit of luck) comes in. From experience, I’ve learned that people often chase the newest listings and overlook the ones that have been sitting on the market. The assumption? “There must be something wrong with it.”
More often than not, that’s not true. They’ve either been overpriced or simply not presented well.
In this case, a flat near Kensington High Street and Kensington Gardens suddenly dropped in price, bringing it right within budget. After a bit of negotiation back and forth, we secured it.
Best part? It turned out to be their absolute favourite area in London. Win-win.
